Roy is one of the most prominent figures in the world of British taste. He was formerly director of the National Portrait Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum, and has served as president of the Garden History Society.
He is a prolific broadcaster and writer. His countless books include The Renaissance Gardens of England, Gardens through the Ages, The Artist and the Garden and The Roy Strong Diaries. His latest volume, Visions of England, has just been published to great praise.
He lives in Herefordshire where the formal garden he created with his late wife, Julia, is opened to the paying public.
